Fix blurry text in a photo

Receipts, whiteboards, serial numbers, street signs, a page of a book. PixelUp sharpens the letters so they read cleanly, and never makes up what is not there.

Soft phone photo, one run of Enhance. Drag to compare.

Sharper letters, honest letters

Text is the hardest content for an enhancer, because a wrong guess changes the meaning. PixelUp sharpens the strokes it can see and leaves the rest alone.

Stroke edges rebuilt

Motion blur and missed focus spread each stroke into a soft band. The pass pulls the edges back in, so letters separate from each other and from the background.

  • Printed text, handwriting and signage
  • Works on dark and light backgrounds

Nothing invented

The model is tuned to recover existing shapes, not to generate plausible words. Where a character is truly gone, it stays unreadable rather than being replaced with a guess.

  • Safe for receipts, labels and serial numbers
  • What you read is what was there

Noise and shadows cleaned

Low-light photos of documents carry grain and uneven shadows. Denoising and light balancing run in the same pass, which makes OCR and reading easier.

  • Better input for any OCR or scanner app
  • Keeps paper texture natural

Download in HD

The download is included in the run. 2K and 4K are extra runs at 10 and 16 credits.

Questions people ask before uploading

Is this free?

Sign in with your email and get 12 free credits, enough for two runs. After that each run costs 6 credits at 1K, 10 at 2K, 16 at 4K, with the download included.

Will it guess missing letters?

No. It sharpens strokes that are still partly visible. Characters that are completely lost stay unreadable, which is the right behaviour for anything where accuracy matters.

Does it work on handwriting?

Yes. Pen and pencil strokes sharpen the same way as printed text. Very faint pencil benefits from a brighter photo first.

Can I use it before OCR?

Yes. A sharpened, denoised photo gives most OCR tools a much higher accuracy rate. Download the 2K version for the best OCR input.

What about text at an angle?

The pass sharpens it. It does not straighten or crop; do that in your phone editor before or after.

What sizes can I download?

1K, 2K or 4K on the long edge, as JPG or PNG. 4K is about 4096 pixels, enough for an A3 print.
