Enhance a zoomed-in photo

Digital zoom is just a crop. The person on stage, the bird in the tree, the licence plate across the car park: PixelUp rebuilds the detail the crop threw away.

Why zoom looks bad, and what can be fixed

Past the optical range, a phone crops the sensor and stretches the result. You get fewer pixels, more noise and a soft look. Each part of that is repairable.

Pixels put back

A 10x digital zoom leaves a few hundred real pixels. The pass reconstructs edges and texture at 1K, 2K or 4K so the crop looks like a proper photo.

  • Concert, sports and wildlife crops
  • Faces kept the same person

Noise from the small crop

Zoomed shots are noisy because the phone amplifies a tiny part of the sensor. Noise is removed in the same pass without the waxy look.

  • Clean skin and skies
  • Texture kept

Crop after, not before

Upload the full photo if you still have it and crop afterwards; the model has more context to work with. If only the zoomed version exists, upload that.

Questions people ask before uploading

Is this free?

Sign in with your email and get 12 free credits, enough for two runs. After that each run costs 6 credits at 1K, 10 at 2K, 16 at 4K, with the download included.

Can it read a licence plate or sign from a zoomed photo?

If the characters are partly visible, they sharpen into readable text. If they are a smear, they stay unreadable; PixelUp does not invent characters.

Is it better to crop before or after enhancing?

After. Upload the full-frame photo, enhance at 2K or 4K, then crop. The model uses the whole image for context.

Will a small face in the distance look right?

Faces down to about 40 pixels are rebuilt and kept the same person. Smaller than that, the improvement is limited.

Does it work on video frames?

Yes. Screenshot the frame and upload it; compression and softness from video are handled the same way.

What sizes can I download?

1K, 2K or 4K on the long edge, as JPG or PNG. 4K is about 4096 pixels, enough for an A3 print.
